“I’m Your Moon” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

“Life is eternal, and love is immortal; and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.”– Rossiter Worthington Raymond

Adapted from the novel “Katsathitthan” (กัษธิษฐาน) by Ace, “I’m Your Moon” is a reincarnation saga steeped in societal redressal and traditional bondage. The intricately woven storyline addresses the long lost love between two princesses born in the Buddhist year 2456 (1913). While being homosexual itself was a crime then, their regal status doesn’t allow their blossoming love to flourish. With same-sex marriage laws becoming a reality in Thailand, the show highlights the differences in the ancient and modern societal mindset. Starring Sprite Itaree & Piano Pronyanee in lead roles, the show encompasses two different timelines where their characters fall in love and face variant challenges!

Sprite Itaree as Earl Katsakorn Sitalaras & Phiangrawi Ussanakorn

Born as Her Serene Highness Princess Phiangrawi (Sprite), the show’s opening scenes resonate with her sudden death. We aren’t privy to the details of her assasination, we are only given the impression that she was intentionally murdered. The show quickly relocates to the modern era where Phiangrawi is reborn as Earl Katsakorn Sitalaras. Ironically, Sitalaras have a long-standing enmity with the Ussanakorn family and Earl doesn’t remember her past life as a Sitalaras Princess. Unlike her past life, where she was sickly and docile, Earl is strong willed and has a dominant personality. She is constantly plagued by nightmares concerning her late grandmother, Princess Sasinapha Sitalaras, but she has no recollection of their bond.

Piano Pronyanee as Pray Athitthan Ussanakorn & Sasinapha Sitalaras

Her Serene Highness Princess Sasinapha (Piano) fell in love with Phiangrawi at first sight. They planned to elope together but unfortunately Phiangrawi was killed on that night. Surprisingly, Sasinapha is reborn as Prey, the naive and innocent heiress to the Ussanakorn fortune. She is extremely reverent towards her great-grandmother, Phiangrawi Ussanakorn and worships her on a daily basis. Prey is left intrigued when she meets Earl who looks exactly like her great-grandmother. Unlike Sasinapha who was quite mature and straightforward, Prey is sweet and sensitive.

The Chemistry- Sprite & Piano have a refreshing chemistry, they look beautiful together. As Phiangrawi & Sasinapha, they were deeply in love but were separated because of societal norms and their regal status. As Earl & Prey, they are getting to know each other; while Earl is resolute about maintaining the status quo because of the ongoing feud between their families, Prey is entirely smitten with her.

Is it a Worthwhile Watch

The love stories in two different eras are strikingly different and yet riveting!

The costumes and locales are resplendent of the Thai nobility’s stature in the 1930s. Sprite & Piano breeze through their performances as two princesses who fell in love and were forcefully separated. Their relationship changes as they are reborn and yet the connection remains vibrant. The supporting couple, Tian (Mie Phattaranan) & Milin (Belle Ploynapus) are equally mystique; Tian introduces Prey to Earl knowing about their past life experiences. While both of them don’t seem to have their old memories, Tian & Milin have an inkling of their past. Who are they and how were they related to Phiangrawi- Sasinapha?

If you are looking for a historical romance with a sapphic twist, then “I’m Your Moon” should be on your watchlist!
