Our buckets are full to the brim with the ongoing dramas in the BL/GL world. There is no recline, one drama ends and instantly another one takes up the empty spot. Atleast the mad hour rush on Frigays has subsided, but not entirely. Since we are picky and choosy, here’s our upgraded version of favorites that are reckoning and different!
10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40
The gayest version of an age gap romance, “10 Things I Want to Do Before I Turn 40” is a bit sized version of adorable characters and endearing chemistry, especially the height difference always gets me. Starring Kazama Shunsuke & Shoji Kohei as co-workers, the story focuses on Tojo Suzume, who has been single for over 10 years and spends his days just going back and forth between his office and home. One day, he realizes that there are only three months left until his 40th birthday. Suzume makes a list of “10 things I want to do before I’m 40” and gets caught by his handsome junior, Tanaka Keiji. Keiji has been looking for a chance like this, and he proposes that they complete the list together. What starts as an obscure idea of completing a wishlist soon turns into an intriguing romance, as Tojo slowly starts to fall for the kind & caring Keiji.
Harmony Secret
You should have a bucket of ice-cold water ready when you sit down to watch this sapphic adaptation; because the main couple are fiery hot & passionate. Starring Lookmhee Punyapat & Sonya Saranphat in lead roles, the story is a messy romance between two heiresses from rival companies. They are pitted against each other by their father’s who leave the sword hanging on their neck- it’s a make or break deal. Apart from that, the leads are also childhood rivals who didn’t get along well. Except for the fact that the very confident, calm and composed Aiwarin has always been in love with the super tense Maewika. Lookmhee adopts an alpha dominant behavior which is undeniably hot and understated. Sonya plays the meek and sly submissive who wants to steal trade secrets but ends up melting in her alpha’s arms.
I’m the Most Beautiful Count
Just when I thought that Nut Supanut can’t get anymore sassier than he is on normal days, he strums up looking like a billion dollars doll and strikes you wrong. Nut has come a long way from his “Oxygen” where he even had difficulty kissing his co-star. Now, he is a nonchalant diva kissing not one but four men in the time travel romance “I’m the Most Beautiful Count”. After winning hearts with their unlikely chemistry in “Pit Babe Season Two”, Nut & Ping Orbnithi return to playing the main couple in this show. As Prince, Nut embodies a nonbinary character who is transported to the ancient era where same sex relationships are punishable by law. When she wakes up inhabiting the body of Khun Woradet, a young nobleman forced to conceal his identity in the Thongburi Kingdom, Prince has a hard time accepting this odd reality. But the diva decides to take matters in her hand and figure out the mystery of Woradet’s secret lover. What ensues is a mad rush where Prince seduces not one but four men. Nut is doing a fantastic job portraying a nonbinary character with comic undertones. He is freaking hilarious and you can’t stop wondering what new chaos Prince will cause!
My Magic Prophecy
I have no idea how each and every show with JimmySea ends becoming my favorite. Is it their chemistry or the nuanced storytelling that is so reminiscent in most show they act? Jimmy Jitaraphol finally gets to play out his real life persona of a doctor while Sea Tawinan joins him on this journey as a clairvoyant. Like most of their shows, they start off as enemies. Only Jimmy’s character Thap is all bark and no bite. From the first time they meet, Thap is enamored & intrigued with In, his younger sister’s best friend. In is a tarot reader with the mystique powers that help him see the future. He sees Thap in danger and warns him. Thap doesn’t believe in horoscopes or destiny, until the day In’s warnings come true. To safeguard Thap, his family sends to In’s hometown, where they emotionally bond. In is a quiet, reserved character with deep mental scars, while Thap is mischievous yet caring. The combination itself is endearing and I love watching their wild banter, it is amusing and entertaining!
Only You
My favorite GL couple are back onscreen and I have every reason to rejoice. I fell in love with Lingling Sirilak after watching her sophisticated act in “Secret of Us”. In “Only You”, she transforms into a calm, composed & disciplined bodyguard who stole purpose of existence is to guard her client. Things get messy when Tawan’s new VIP client turns out to the super successful idol, Ayla (Orm Kornnaphat). They were childhood sweethearts until Tawan disappeared without a word and Ayla vows that someday she would reunite with the love of her life. They are complete opposites, Tawan puts her duty first & foremost while Ayla is like a mischievous golden retriever. No matter how hard Tawan tries, Ayla always gets through her defenses. LingOrm have that old school charm that sets them apart from most GL couples. Especially Ling, everything from her demeanor to her behavioral patterns change according to the role she plays but it doesn’t diminish the understated charm that she possesses.
The Proper Way to Write Love
This recent entrant on the Gagaoolala masterlist is an endearing and rambunctious affair. Starring Iwahashi Genki & Soma Satoru in lead roles, the story follows Suzuki Hiroshi, works as a top hair stylist is confessed to by Washizawa Natsuo, his childhood nemesis. Only Natsuo doesn’t remember him (or pretends to do so), so when he confesses; Hiroshi decides to date him, thinking, “I’ll make him fall in love with me and then throw him away!”. Only the revenge plan doesn’t succeed as he wanted, because Natsuo wins him over with his kind and attentive behavior. As they grow closer, Hiroshi starts sharing his problems at work with Natsuo who carefully listens to him & offers advice. Genki & Satoru are an odd combination. Natsuo is so hyperactive and energetic, you can’t help but fall for him. While Hiroshi does have his own reservations stemming from their painful past, his intentions are wavering because Natsuo seems like a better person now.
New Entries- You can also check out “Khemjira”, “Love Sea: The Home for Lovers”, & “Roller Coaster” because the pilot episodes were pretty intense and entertaining!
