Crime thrillers are on the rise and GL dramas are trending in this genre, as we speak!!
Monomax enters the GL industry with a bang and, evidently, “Heart Code” is their golden ticket. Starring Tungpang Pattarawadee & Jessie Natsiya in lead roles, the show spins a fantastical story of intrigue, suspense and thriller. The pilot episodes kindly slip into a slow burn romance between our main protagonists who belong to different worlds. As their worlds collide, so do their individual issues & struggles. The storytelling is unhinged, evenly paced with a strong narrative. Monomax has recently been producing shows with strong caricatures (Mandate & The Fridge) but the shows are regionally constrained. If the shows are made internationally available on platforms that are easily available, then these shows could be a trailblazing advent.
The Storyline & Chemistry

Vicky (Jessie Natsiya) is the daughter of a powerful police officer, Phakphum. For the most part, her father seems like a righteous policeman who is currently being targeted by Minister Burin. After multiple assassination attempts on Phakphum, Burin changes tactics and attacks Vicky instead. She escapes unscathed because Captain Thara (Tungpang Pattarawadee) saves her. Thara is a popular police officer with her own FC. Known for her sharp instincts & daredevil attitude, Thara is trusted by her superiors. Unbeknownst to everyone, it seems like Phakphum was involved in Thara’s father’s death. Since Vicky’s life is in danger, her father recruits her in a training camp. Thara is selected for the same camp, and she joins it, after learning that the camp is organized by Phakphum. Without realising that Vicky is Phakphum’s daughter, Thara is drawn to her. When Vicky is unable to acclimatize to the strict training, Thara helps her survive. Tungpang & Jessie have oodles of delicious chemistry. They are truly beautiful together!
First Impressions

The romance seems to be on a fast forward. I wasn’t expecting them to kiss so soon!!
Not that I’m complaining because the main leads have great camaraderie. But I’m unsure of how their storyline will proceed, once Thara realizes that Vicky is Phakphum’s daughter. She strongly believes that Phakphum might be responsible for her father’s suicide. Will she scheme and use Vicky’s affections to get closer to Phakphum or spare her the pain from the ensuing downfall?
