“Magic Move” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

What do you do when a cutie pie makes his way into your heart through lies?

Rit is a cute liar, so much so, that you know he is lying excessively and yet you cheer on his silly antics. I wasn’t expecting much when I first started with this show. Nevertheless, the cuteness explode is adorable and you get instantly hooked. The pacing is rather slow, but you get used to it as the main leads lead a narrative that is thoroughly entertaining. The storyline isn’t anything new or intriguing, but with time, you get used to the characters, not just the main protagonists but also the supporting ones!!

The Storyline & Chemistry-

Rit (Deam Wutthiphat) is a final year architectural student who is working on an innovative project involving rune stones. He wants to design houses with auspicious energy attuned to the rune stone’s energy. One day, while visiting his close friend Pure’s (Tan Pitchawat) newly opened pub, Rit uses his rune stones to predict the future for the customers. Within a night, he became famous on the social media as “Prophecy Master.” Customers start flocking to Pure’s pub to get their fortunes read by Rit. Rit has a one-sided crush on Itthi (Ball Napatsak), campus hottie & heir to a real estate fortune. Itthi’s friends drag him to meet Rit and in his drunken stupor, Rit lies to Itthi that they are childhood friends. Easily believing his lies, Itthi begins to earnestly pursue Rit. From driving him to university, to waiting for him until his classes end, to driving him to Pure’s pub, Itthi does everything to win over Rit. Even though it is obvious that Rit is lying through his teeth, Itthi still trusts him.

Ball & Deam have a palpable chemistry. Rit is an endearing character, his overdramatic imagination is funny, and he is even more hilarious when drunk. Itthi has a serious demeanor and I suspect that he knows Rit is lying. But Itthi is ignoring his lies, maybe because he truly likes Rit and wants to get to know him better.

First Impressions

And suddenly, the true love interest returns!!

Pitcha (Sprite Phatthapong) is supposedly Itthi’s real childhood sweetheart. Will his sudden return to Thailand derail Itthi’s budding relationship with Rit?

By the end of the second episode, you are pretty much attuned to Itthi & Rit’s endearing chemistry. You can’t help but smile endlessly as their relationship grows through simple meals and intimate conversations. Itthi has that signature main lead charm, it is indescribable. No wonder Rit is always awestruck whenever he is close to Itthi. This is one of those endearing shows that you shouldn’t miss!!
