Some stories are the beginnings of something new!!
Mac Nattapat debuted in 2024 in the Thai remake of “Addicted Heroin” and was paired opposite August Vachiravit. Later, they went their separate ways and Mac was recruited by GMMTV & paired opposite rookie actor, Tham Tupthong in “Unlucky Bae.” This was their first project and, as such, it was taunted by high expectations. The concept might seem unusual, but the storytelling was lucid enough and the main leads have incomparable chemistry. Some might beg to differ, but Mac has improved by spades and his performance was rather commendable. As for Tham, his nuanced approach to portraying an atypical character must be applauded. We will minutely dissect the enjoyable & disappointing parts of this show with equal fervor!!
Storyline & Chemistry-

Rin (Mac Nattapat) is a fine arts student and heir to a family of sorcerers. He is quite popular at his university for dating the heartthrob, Krit (Aun Napat). Things get complicated when Krit makes the fake excuse of dating their common friend, Mochi (Stamp Panachkorn) to dump Rin on his birthday. Left heartbroken, Rin decides to curse him with bad luck with a spell from a book left behind by his mother. Unfortunately, he accidentally hits the wrong person. Khobfa (Tham Tupthong), a third-year business administration student, with his spell.
Stuck by the curse, Khobfa starts experiencing bad luck, which threatens his life. Feeling guilty, Khobfa seeks advice from his mother, who tells him that the bad luck needs to be countered by good luck. While he can’t undo the bad luck he’s brought about, Rin decides to use his own good luck to balance out Khobfa’s misfortune. He starts following Khobfa around, making sure that he remains safe. Rin even goes to the extent of moving into Khobfa’s dorm to discreetly protect him. Initially apprehensive and annoyed by Rin’s persistence, Khobfa slowly thaws and develops feelings for Rin. Khobfa has been struck by misfortune since childhood and everyone mostly avoids him. But Rin stays close to him, despite the prejudices that Khobfa faces.
These two made me realize that chemistry is not about having good kissing scenes. At times, it is about the comfort that two actors share with each other. For haters who didn’t like their kissing scenes, I have news. This was their first time acting together, and they have made significant progress, strumming past the initial discomfort and cementing their natural chemistry. Mac & Tham have a natural chemistry which can be developed overtime. I’m really looking forward to their future projects!
Final Impressions

I was rather annoyed with the secondary couple. They seemed like an unwarranted addition to this story!!
I understand that Krit is essential to the storyline. The chaos begins because of his so-called cheating ways. I really enjoyed Aun & Stamp’s chemistry in “Revamp the Undead Story”, where they were first introduced as an official pairing. I really didn’t care much about Krit & Mochi’s romance. I was really frustrated with their deplorable behavior.
