Historical dramas have a charm of their own. Most of them are relegated to the timeline between the 1930s & 1960s, when western culture was slowly being adopted into the Asian subcontinent. These dramas feature settings that have traditional styles but modern vibes; costumes that betray the local culture whilst the citizens are adapting to a western mindset. Despite that, homophobia was still rampant and that remains at the forefront in most BL- themed shows.

2025 saw a massive outflow of BL dramas; the astronomical number of productions were subjected. We had a diverse profile catering to a wider audience and, as such, this year’s awards are meant to recognize talents from a variety of diaspora.
