There’s something undeniably magical about War Wanarat and Yin Anan when they share the screen. It’s more than just chemistry. Maybe it’s their friendship. Maybe it’s their uncanny ability to tap into nuanced emotions while weaving romance effortlessly into their performances. Whatever the reason, they consistently bring a depth to their characters—a depth that resonates even when the story itself falls a little short.

Alongside the glitzy affair that was GMMTV 2025 Lineup, we had some pretty big announcements from the Japanese & Korean BL industry that will blow your mind. If you are a Cherry Magic fan, you would know what we are hinting at. With marriage equality becoming a dream come true in Thailand, major giants are stepping up their game, churning out quintessential BL/GL content!
My last tier of my favorite Asian BLs for this year is, of course equally eclectic as my first two lists were. Perhaps these, of all the series I have watched this year, are the ones that have left the greatest emotional impact on me. Equally important, they have also made me ruminative and reflective. Wondering and pondering most whether I would have taken the same actions or gone down the same path or felt the same way. Mostly, I saw something within me in each of the main protagonists. Some characteristic force, strength, flaw, weakness, emotion, or perhaps desire that helped me identify more with how they felt, who they were, and/or more importantly why they did what they did. “Perfect 10 Liners”, like “We Are Series”, is a fun buddy romedy comedy series, which centers around a group of friends, who grow together and find love. Despite not having much substance, it is a feel-good romcom that is meant to be a comfort watch, with little to no tension. “Perfect 10 Liners” is your quintessential BL, you know what you’re getting and you’re happy with it, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is. The problem with this, however, is that it can be boring and seem overdone, but at the same time, it is a show that wouldn’t disappoint you with its formulaic storytelling. This is for the slice of life lovers, who just want to watch a good romance and see friends goof around while falling in love with no stakes.

As expected, GMMTV’s Lineup 2025 was a sumptuous affair with new pairings added, older pairings getting new shows and some surprise additions that might shock you. The most shocking aspect being the launch of 20 new series, out which seventeen are BL series, two are GL series & only one heterosexual romance. With same sex marriage being legalized in January, 2025; GMMTV is betting on the popularity of queer productions. This lineup could very well chart their priorities in near future. Apart from some remaining projects from the 2024 Lineup (Thame – Po (13 Dec 2024), My Golden Blood, Ossan’s Love Thailand, Revamp The Undead Story, Sweet Tooth Good Dentist, The Ex-Morning), we have19 shows to dissect, so let’s get moving!
