Starring Sato Arata and Oriyame Nao as main leads, Takara-kun to Amagi-kun is a high school drama about, well, high school. Of course, the shots, the picturisation, and the direction in itself were good. I thought the dialogue writing was fascinating as well, but their delivery did not sit right with me. The depth was missing. It was not all bad though, it was a cute story about two high school kids. You can definitely go for it if you want to watch pure fluff.

Feminist roles in BL dramas are sidelined; it’s not baffling because Boys’ Love caters to a wider range of audiences that are more interested in gay romance. The female characters in these shows are often underrated or undermined. And yet, some great portrayals leave a strong impression on your mind for a myriad of reasons. We often find ourselves annoyed with the female depictures in BL dramas, some of them intrusive, whilst others are unnecessary. But there were a few female characters who smashed these preconceived notions with their strong portrayals of honest love and convictions. In today’s feature, we will be talking about such influential female ladies who left a deep impression on our hearts!
Instead of our usual flair for the Sunday Bite Feature, today we are trying something new. As such, two of our authors will be talking about the intricacies of their current favorites shows. It is like a rap sheet of things that they found interesting!
Adapted from the manga “Kabe Sa Doujin Sakka no Neko Yashiki-kun wa Shouninyokkyuu wo Kojiraseteiru” by Minamoto Kazuki, the Japanese BL Kabe-Koji-Nekoyashiki-Kun Desires to be Recognized is a comic portrayal of two childhood classmates, Nekoyashiki Mamoru (Matsuoka Koudaiwith) and Kazama Issei (Nakao Masaki) who have unspoken feelings for each other.
