Bromances probably came into existence and became popular because of China’s rigid censorship on queer representation. Even though their popularity stems from heart fluttering moments that spur imaginary romance between the fictional characters, Bromances are fast becoming a stable part of the BL genre!

This week was bonkers with a surreptitious downpour of exclusives and concerning news updates. We haven’t had a single moment to rest with the BL industry churning out more shows/dramas than we could catch up with. While the downpour doesn’t seem to cease for now, let’s catch up with upcoming Asian BLs/GLs on the block!
We got some piping hot news pouring from close quarters, unexpected ouster of a renowned adaptation that is set to premiere soon. While the queer community is eagerly awaiting the show’s release, it was stuck by traditional conservatives. Apart from that, we also have updates about some of the most anticipated dramas in 2024!
While we are having a constant outpour of Japanese and Thai BLs, Korean BLs seemed to be slow on uptake this year. We didn’t have any continuous projections, but the shows that premiered were indeed a worthwhile experience. We had some complicated adaptations with nuanced storytelling and casting that made waves across the continent. Spilling the beans, let me share my favorites from 2024!
