I am not a big fan of movies in general when compared to shows, because I always feel that the time constraints impose limitations on how much of a story can be told; most movies tend to fall short on doing justice to all the characters and subplots they introduce. In a rushed script, we are sometimes left hanging with respect to resolutions that the characters of the film deserve as people.
There is a duality to BL that fans have come to respect and understand. On the surface, it is a place of attractive men, high definition pictures, with the expected payoff of sensual kisses as a given.
From the first scene itself, I was hooked on to the grand vibe that was reminiscent of a fairy tale, and after the two episodes, it seems that they are playing more and more into the trope of the outwardly aloof yet warm-hearted princely character in Hia Lian.
My watch list is overflowing with BL dramas. This is a statement that I never thought would be feasible.
