The highly anticipated “Strange Way of Life” a short film that ran festival circuits and had a limited release in major theaters is now available on streaming platforms and video on demand. The film directed and written by Pedro Almodovar stars Ethan Hawke as Sheriff Jake and Pedro Pascal as Silva. The story is comparable to Ang Lee’s “Brokeback Mountain” due to the “Love that can’t be talked about” situation between Jake and Silva. Something that started 25 years ago and hasn’t been forgotten by neither men despite the distance between them; only to be reignited when Silva appears at Jake’s door. But are his intentions purely for Jake or is there more to it?

“Healing Thingyan” Series Review (Ep.1 to 3)
This is a charming mini-series composed of three short episodes and a special episode, centering around a sublime and captivating Burmese festival. It is believed that water can fix mistakes, drive out bad luck, and bring greater health and happiness. It is a 3-to-5-day celebration held in Myanmar that is festive and fun and held before their New Year which is in April. I found the festival to be quite beautiful and convivial.

“We Are Series” First Impressions (Ep.1 to 4)
At first glance, “We Are” seems like a cliché bubblegum show without much substance, however, as you delve deeper into the show, without any cynicism it is pure swoon worthy romance and presents a genre I quite like which is equivalent to the early 2000s chick flicks. Although it doesn’t have much to say or has no edge, it gives us heartwarming love stories, actual courtship and although there are elements of slow burn romance in some of the couples, the show balances it out by giving us different solid story lines to follow that are all wholesome and you can’t help but root for each single couple. Comfort shows with low stakes, that are written to make the audience feel good are severely underrated and its easy to write them off as bubblegum shows that lose flavor quickly, however, you cannot deny that when they are sweet, they are indeed sweet.
