THE BREATH BEHIND THE BEAUTY OF BAGAN THE BEGINNING

Occasionally a series comes along that is so captivating that you begin to wonder about its own origins and is it as interesting as the story itself. Well, I got to find out and I found out that indeed its origins are just as fascinating as the make-believe story itself. By sheer luck, I was able to nail down an interview with the Director/Writer, Ko Kelvin, of this fascinating and engaging BL from a country obviously not particularly known for its BLs. In fact, its whole ethos on the engagement of gayness is rather repressing and yet perhaps that is what makes this story even more engaging and certainly reflective. It also gives, I think greater depth to its characters that you do not sense or feel in other BLs as of late as this one comes straight from the spirit. The story of BAGAN THE BEGINNING is not going to be revealed here; that is for you to experience and ponder. The only comment I shall make is that it is not just an enticing/thought-provoking story; it also spins an elegance around the wonderment of Myanmar that created in me a wanderlust to visit its natural and cultural grandeur.

“Beyond the Star” Series Review (Ep.3 to 8)

After completely watching the series, I only felt one thing, which was what the hell happened in last few episodes because it felt incomplete. Empty plot lines, rushed ending and no character development. Even in romantic sense, there was no development. Sure there was intimacy but it felt too much scripted after certain time because it felt like, instead of creating a solid story line, the writer and director were too focused on repetitive and boring intimate scenes between the couples. Some scenes were good but most of them were bland and boring. The main thing around dancing and singing, since they were trying to create a boyband.

“Good Grief” Movie Review

“Good Grief” is your quintessential made for TV romcom, that is easy to follow, fun and funny with little depth to it. The movie follows Marc (Daniel Levy), whose husband suddenly dies in a car accident. While grieving, he embarks on a journey in which he finds healing, takes a carthatic trip to Paris with his best friends in an attempt to forge his way into the future and find himself and love again. The title poses an oxymoron “Good Grief” being the grief we experience because we loved and lost, and this encapsulates the main theme of the movie.
