“Carol” Movie Review
“Carol” is a bitter-sweet movie about the realities of closeted gay white women in the 50s. Cate Blanchett (Carol) embodies the titular character well; she expresses the tension between the life she has to lead as against her desires. Carol meets Therese (Rooney Mara), a young aspiring photographer, working in a department store where she is shopping for a Christmas present for her daughter, and the chemistry between the two characters becomes instantly apparent. After Carol leaves her gloves at the counter, Therese mails them back to her, which allows the two to meet again.

Why The Queers Seemed Lost in Elite 7
There was a time when the Spanish teenage hit “Elite” signified mystery and murder mayhem; Las Enchinas has always been the breeding ground for ornate romance or well orchestrated crimes scenes. While the first five seasons reigned on the basis of this concept, the quality began to decline when the series entered its fifth season. Forgoing logic, new characters were added for atypical drama and illogical conclusions. Despite this, the show still managed to survive (makes you question Netflix’s inability to distinguish between good and bad dramas; considering the steady number of LGBTQ dramas that they have axed). And yet, Elite has managed the impossible; they keep missing the axe. Is it because the show has a consistent fandom who are ready to devour the baseless storyline as long as they get melodrama? The current season remains true to this premise; we have old and new characters; some delusional, others opportunistic. We are here to talk about the queer characters, so let’s just train our lens on them (there is nothing to discuss this show anyways).

“What Did You Eat Yesterday” took the world by storm in 2019 with its slice of life, adult take on a healthy relationship between two forty-year-old gay men: a hairdresser named Kenji (Uchino Seiyou) and his then in the closet lawyer boyfriend, Shiro (Nishijima Hidetoshi). The couple dealt with most moments that came to any couple with a smile and a well-cooked meal. Something that viewers literally ate up for the show to receive critical acclaim, a full length big-budget movie and a three episode special series. And now a second season continuing the lives of our favorite couple with the big 5-0 just around the corner.
