“The Boy Next World” Series Review (Ep.1 to 10)

Undoubtedly, this would have worked much better as a fantasy. Instead, they tried to fool us into thinking it is and then wildly twisting the plot into making it fit into our ‘reality’ only to fail miserably on all fronts. This series is a complete mess, regrettably.

BL Week in Review

This week, there was a drastic reduction in the number of series that aired. Four series ended last week, but one more started and three others will start next week. I finally feel like there is some breathing room, especially on Fridays. So, I took some time to truly enjoy sharing thoughts and ideas on social media.

Also, I had an idea. I think it would be fun to go live for this column and chat with all of you in real time about the series that aired during the week, so I’m going to give it a shot.

Join me as I go live on “The BL Xpress YouTube Channel” on Tuesday, March 25 4:30 PM PST Let’s fill the Tuesday void and have a fun chat!

BL Week in Review

This last week saw the end of four series, and another is ending tomorrow. The good news is that Fridays are now down to four series since three of them finished this week. That’ll make life less stressful, at least for me.

“ThamePo” ended on Friday, but I have to put it at the top as another series recommendation. I know, I know. I’ve done a few series recommendations recently, but this one was excellent, and the ending was satisfying. It’s totally worth checking out, especially if you’re in the mood for slow-burn with a touch of idol culture, found family, and friendship all sprinkled with an excellent soundtrack.

This week, we got the best surprise. “Jack and Joker special episode” aired, and I must say that it was an excellent movie-length episode filled with action and angst. Word to the wise, watch beyond the end credits. You won’t regret it.

This week, two major Thai platforms dropped previews for their upcoming series and I am super excited for some of them.

Happy Valentine’s Day for all those who celebrate. There were some stunning photos from our favorite Thai actors on Social Media. If you didn’t get a chance to check them out, what are you waiting for and why are you still here? 😘

“The Heart Killers” aired on Wednesday’s for the last twelve weeks and made every hump day a little more bearable for me. I truly fell in love with the characters. Style stole the show with his shenanigans and reckless persona. Also, at least two people quoted his line when I asked everyone for their favorite parts of the series. “Gorgeous man with clear skin found dead in a crop top.”

The level of spice in BL this week was off the charts. Almost every episode had a heart-melting kissing scene. With that in mind, I tried to narrow it down to my top three favorites. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. There were so many beautiful moments this week! Still, I managed to do it.

I can’t believe January is already over. It was a great month for BL, and if it’s any indication this year is going to bring the genre to another level once again.

“The Boy Next World” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

I know it’s still early in the series, but I’m going to say it—The Boy Next World is the best thing Me Mind Y has ever done. MAME is an incredible storyteller, and Chaikamon Sermsongwittaya (Boss) and Nuttarat Tangwai (Noeul) have electric chemistry. While I loved their characters in the 2022 hit Love in the Air (also based on a story by MAME), this story feels like an even better fit for them.

One of my favorite things about BL is the community it brings together and the positive message it sends about the LGBTQIA+ community. Of course, there is some negativity, but for the most part, all of the fans scream over all of the cute moments and my social media timeline is full of heartwarming adorableness. So, I was ecstatic to see the celebration of the achievement of marriage equality in Thailand this week. Congratulations to all the happy couples.
