We are on a bankroll of daily assignments, not a single day goes without any BL/GL show on the horizon. So, it became a necessary requisite to feature the currently on-air dramas which are based on popular adaptations.
Contrast
Adapted from the manga “Contrast” (コントラスト) by itz
The show is a pure school-based teenage romance, but fraught with intricacies. Aoyama Kanata (Iuchi Haruhi) is a popular student whose dream of becoming a popular athlete was derailed by injury. Senkawa Akira (Akune Haruse) is an academically outstanding loner. They don’t know each other’s names or classes, but they recognize each other by face. One day, these two opposites meet on the stair landing that leads to the school rooftop. As they spend time together, they begin to talk about things they can’t share with anyone else. Senkawa helps Aoyama overcome his fear, so he can start playing again. On the other hand, Senkawa has been in a secret relationship with his older brother’s friend. As he falls for Aoyama, Senkawa decides to break free from old ties. Iuchi & Akune have a solemn chemistry. It is interesting!!
Duang With You
Adapted from the novel “not the best but still good” by peachhplease.
Have you ever gotten infatuated with someone, so much so that your entire existence revolves around them? Ask Duang (TeeTee Wancipit) and he would answer with a simple “Qin” (Por Suppakarn). This show is a love sonnet scripted to depict main lead Duang’s obsessive love for his crush, Qin. Throughout the show, he is put through different situations where Qin repeatedly tests his patience & affections. No matter what happens, Duang always has a smile on his face and the only person on his mind is Qin. He cruises through life, only meaning to become Qin’s boyfriend. That is his life’s biggest desire & ambition. On this journey, some might grow wary of Duang’s infatuation; others might find him endearing. For me, I was exasperated but also grew fond of Qin. His persistence makes you admire him. His quiet patience & innocence win over Qin and you celebrate their reunion!!
Feel What You Feel
Adapted from the web novel “Wei Ming Hu Pan De Ai Yu Fa” (未名湖畔的爱与罚) by Ni Lv Zhu Ren (逆旅主人)
Ming De University law students Yu Lei (Sun Cai Zhen) and Chen Ke (Liang Bei Yi) have no idea that they’ll change each other’s lives when they first meet. But as they spend time together, Yu Lei begins to fall in love with Chen Ke instead. His unspoken feelings remain unfettered and under the surface, though Yu Lei craves intimacy. The lead actors, though rookies have amazing chemistry, they have a natural camaraderie. You can’t help but be excited as Yu Lei develops feelings for his rival, while being unable to voice them.
Flavor of Us
Adapted from the novel “Prung Rak Hai Long Lock” (ปรุงรักให้ลงล็อก) by Love Router
Meekhun (Phanpee Ratchatasakorn) is a famous food critic. Faced with an enormous debt his mother has amassed, he has no idea how he can possibly fix it. It’s hard to see if it’s a blessing or a curse when he suddenly finds himself the sole inheritor of his grandfather’s restaurant. If he were to sell it, the money would be more than enough to pay off what his mother owes. However, there’s a caveat. Meekhun will only be permitted to sell the restaurant and the land it sits on when he’s run the business for one year. Meekhun’s biggest headache, however, is the restaurant’s chef, Naptang (Beibei Krit) who his grandfather had specified in his will. Their first interaction wasn’t good as Meekhun criticized the food prepared by Naptang at the restaurant owned by his parents. Even though they didn’t get along initially, Meekhun works to slowly win over Naptang. The main leads have a natural chemistry, though they are rookies!!
The Sun from Another Star
Adapted from the novel “West: The Sun from Another Star” by Howlsairy
My current obsession, “The Sun from Another Star” is certainly my favorite romance in the “Fourever You Project” universe. You might have noticed Daotok and Arthit in the previous installments. Daotok (Oat Tharathon) is quiet but the most mature person in his group of close-knit friends. Arthit (Ngern Anupart) is the fourth member of the popular doctor’s gang. Utterly handsome yet totally lazy, Arthit is a troublemaker, relying on his friends and rich father. Unbeknownst to everyone, Daotok can speak to spirits. Things get interesting when Daotok moves next door to Arthit and starts conversing with the ghosts in the room. As they solve a mystery concerning Arthit’s friend who was murdered in Daotok’s room, Arthit asks him for help to search for his late mother’s soul. Arthit doesn’t believe in love, but as they spend time together, he starts falling in love with the weird guy who can talk to ghosts. Ngern & Oat have fantastic chemistry. You will pray fervently that Daotok would accept Arthit’s proposal and put him out of his misery.
Hometown Romance
Adapted from the novel “Sami Ban Nok” (สามีบ้านนอก) by Lambo (แลมป์โบ)
I never knew comedy was Sonya Saranphat’s forte until I saw her in “Hometown Romance”. Starring opposite her onscreen partner, Lookmhee Punyapat, Sonya plays the role of Si, a high-society heiress who dreams of becoming the CEO of her family’s company. However, her parents give the position to her younger sister instead, believing Si is too spoiled and irresponsible, spending millions without a second thought. When the family business faces a crisis involving a crucial land lease renewal, negotiations fail—until Klaokawi, the landowner, makes an unusual proposal: she will renew the lease only if Si agrees to marry her. Initially, Si is appalled by the idea of marrying a countryside girl. But she is left with no other option because her parents don’t trust her. To gain their trust, Si strikes a deal with Klao. Lookmhee & Sonya have a palpable chemistry, it is refreshing as always.
Love Upon a Time
Adapted from the novel “Love Upon a Time” (ภพเธอ) by littlebbear96
Another comic gold unlocked. Nakhun (JJ Radchapon) is an unsuperstitious twenty-year-old student, a top scorer and doesn’t believe in the concept of time travel. When he is struck with constant misfortune, his friends take him to a fortune-teller. Shockingly, that night, fate plays a trick on him, and he winds up travelling back nearly four hundred years to the Ayutthaya Kingdom. He’s mistaken for someone who had gone missing, so Nakhun is forced to assume the identity of Klao. Klao’s friend Phop (Net Siraphop) doesn’t believe that Nakhun is the younger brother he knew and keeps an eye trained on him. JJ has an unassuming humor sense, it was a joy watching him act as a bewildered time traveler. Net & JJ seem to have a natural chemistry, the story obviously leans into their romance!
