As opposed to the prequel, which failed to bank on the main lead’s popularity as an established couple, I liked this show slightly better!!

This show might be a real setback for those who cheered when Chen Xiao An & Lin Bing Chen got over their trivial rivalry and got back together in “Black and White Is Real”. For those unaware, both are celebrity managers, Chen Xiao An was handling Bai Xing whilst Lin Bing Chen was managing Hei Yan. Both managers had a woeful history given their past relationship, and they often got into scuffles. Their relationship got better once their actors started dating and by the end of the prequel, they happily reconcile. Unfortunately, Lin Bing Chen is announced dead in the sequel and another rookie actor joins their fold, Ding Yu Ting. This story focuses on Ding Yu Ting endlessly pursuing Chen Xiao An & ultimately winning his heart!!

The Storyline & Chemistry-

In grief following Lin Bing Chen’s (Jack Sun) death, Chen Xiao An (Wills Sia) is left utterly devastated. He neglects his work, mostly remaining morosely drunk. To divert his attention, Hei Yan (Andy Ko) and Bai Xing (Nelson Ji) recruit a rookie actor, Ding Yu Ting (Scott Yang). Ding Yu Ting has known Chsn Xiao An since his college days, and has had a crush on him. When he learns that Chen Xiao An will be managing him, he jumps at an opportunity to join their company. Initially, Chen Xiao An acts unenthusiastic and isn’t interested in managing Ding Yu Ting. But slowly, Ding Yu Ting wins him over and helps him get over his past grief. Wills Sia & Scott Yang have beautiful chemistry. Frankly, I enjoyed their romance much better than Andy Ko’s & Nelson Ji’s. Chen Xiao An & Ding Yu Ting’s romance had more substance and depth, the narrative was well written and the actors have a believable camaraderie!!

Final Impressions

I went into this show with zero expectations because the prequel failed me!!

Surprisingly, the sequel doesn’t mess around like its predecessors. The pacing is a little choppy in the initial episodes, but the chemistry between the main leads makes up for the irrelevant flaws. You can sit back and watch their playful banter, as they grow closer & fall in love. It is a beautiful journey of redemption for a broken soul, afraid of falling in love again!!
