“Childhood best friends turn Enemies” is one of the most classic tropes in Chinese romances!!
For those who are unaware of the concept of transmigration, it is simply a trope in popular Chinese dramas whereby one of the main protagonists dies and travels back in time. Most of the times, their time travel is aided by an intense desire for revenge or their absolute wish to reconcile with a loved one. “Journey with You” takes both these concepts, puts them in a grinder and gives us a potboiler with abundant twists and turns. Starring Tang Bi De, Wang Jing Han, Colin Duan & Li You Cheng in lead roles, the storyline hinges on Tao vastly different love stories. Both are entertaining in their own ways, so let’s reminisce the highlights from the pilot episodes!!
The Transmigrated Hero Wants Revenge

After guarding the frontier for three years, Fifth Prince Yin Qi (Tang Bi De) returns to the capital, only to fall into a deadly trap alongside his closest companion, Pei Yanzhi (Wang Jing Han). Pei Yanzhi is a hostage prince from a rival country who grew up with Yin Qi. Yin Qi’s elder brother, Yin Zhou (Colin Duan) imprisons their father, the Emperor and sows discord by planting a fake letter that incriminates Pei Yanzhi. In their last moments, Yin Qi falls prey to suspicion while Pei Yanzhi tries trying to protect his loved one. Surprisingly, Yin Qi transmigrates three years in the past. When he wakes up, his ailing mother, the Imperial Consort is still alive. He decides to learn from his past mistakes and determined to change their fate, he begins acting cautiously. Of course, he is also suspicious of Pei Yanzhi and begins to closely monitor him. Despite the distrust, Yin Qi can’t help but lean on Pei Yanzhi for emotional support. Tang Bi De & Wang Jing Han have a natural connection. Yin Qi still hasn’t realized his feelings for Pei Yanzhi who is hopelessly in love with Yin Qi. But the fact remains they Pei Yanzhi indeed has his own motives.
The Toxic Prince Who is Out for Blood

If you have watched “Kill to Love”, then this love story might seem reminiscent. I’m not yet sure if it is a love story. Crown Prince Yin Zhou (Colin Duan) is ruthless and has been killing his own brothers, so they don’t disrupt his ascension to the throne. The only one stand6in his way now is the fifth Prince Yin Qi. After his transmigration to the past, Yin Qi begins to act cautiously and that draws Yin Zhou’s attention. Also, he is openly gay and has a impressive harem of male concubines. Amongst them, he is closest to Wei Zi Ming (Li You Cheng) who acts as his personal assistant and paramour. The chemistry is there, even though Yi Zhou is toxic and calculative, Zi Ming blindly follows his orders.
First Impressions

Yin Qi is like an upgraded version who has returned to the past, he intends to turn the tables!!
Only he doesn’t know, if he is should point the swords towards his ruthless elder brother or his best friend. Pei Yanzhi is hopelessly in love with Yin Qi, who is unaware of his affections. But he has been colluding with his own uncle and his actions indeed seem suspicious. Will they get back on equal footing? Will Pei Yanzhi be able to gain Yin Qi’s trust again?
