2025 was literally the year of “Toxic BLs” and leading the charge were Chinese BL. So, don’t be surprised that all shows on this list are made up of unhealthy relationships, which are quite toxic but relatively addictive. You can’t relate to the toxicity portrayed by these characters and yet their love stories are indigenous!!
To My Shore
A car accident destabilizes a normal office worker’s life and turns into a train wreck. You Shu Lang (Hao Yi Ran), a director at a pharmaceutical company, lives an ordinary, stable life. His life is turned upside down when he gets into a car accident with Fan Xiao (Yun Qi), the heir to a Thai conglomerate who’s returned to China for business. Fan Xiao has an utterly twisted, manipulative worldview. It is a game of cat and mouse from there, as Fan Xiao plots, schemes and seduces his way into Shu Lang’s life. Things get complicated when his own feelings get involved and Shu Lang finds out about Fan Xiao’s diabolical plans. Fan Xiao’s redemption arc is unbelievable but essential. Yun Qi & Hao Yi Ran have a fiery chemistry, they were literally on fire!!
ABO Desire
Another twisted romance with two different love stories. Sheng Shao You (Qiu Ding Jie) is an S-Tier Alpha, the highest in hierarchy in this world. His father has been suffering from pheromone gland cancer for the past two years and Shao You has been doing everything in his capability to find a cure. While consulting his rival Shen Wanlang (Jiang Heng), Shao You meets Hua Yong (Huang Xing), a secretary for Shen Wenlang. Hua Yong is an enigma masquerading as omega to gain Shao You’s attention & affections. He uses every kind of deceit in his book to win over Shao You, manipulating his way into his life and home. Alongside them, we follow Shen Wenlang and his secretary Gao Tu (Li Pei En). Gao Tu is an omega, who hides his identity while acting as a beta. He has terribly low self-esteem and Shen Wenlang’s hatred for omegas makes things difficult for him. Even though Shen Wenlang mostly treats him badly, he is kind of positively obsessed with his secretary. Both love stories get entangled and are equally addictive!!

War and destruction have always been the basis for quite a few toxic relationships. “Kill to Love” portrays the obsessive love between a prince and an assassin with a shocking identity. Duan Zi Ang (Zhang Zhe Xu) was raised in the shadows, trained to kill without hesitation. Xiao Shu He (Mi Jin), the sixth prince of the Southern kingdom, was never meant to rule. Duan Zi Ang manipulates his way into the Sixth Prince Mansion using their childhood connection, so he could assassinate the Crown Prince of the Southern Kingdom. While plotting and scheming behind the scenes, Zi Ang irrevocably falls in love with Shu He. As he carries out his mission, battle lines are drawn and Shu He denounces their relationship. Zi Ang returns home, wounded and heartless. As years pass by, he rises to power and becomes the Emperor. Fueled by his obsession with Shu He, he attacks the Southern Kingdom and imprisons Shu He. Theirs is the kind of obsessive love that is irredeemable.
Revenged Love
Some love stories are unreal yet entertaining; at times quite humorous too. Born into a humble family with little financial success, Wu Suo Wei (Zi Yu) finds himself constantly insulted by his much wealthier ex-girlfriend. When Suo Wei finds out that his ex is dating Chi Cheng (Tian Xu Ning), the spoiled heir to his own family’s business, he decides to get his revenge, by seducing Chi Cheng himself. Chi Cheng is handsome, arrogant yet domineering. Despite having no previous romantic inclination towards men, Suo Wei gives it his all and manages to win Chi Cheng over. But as they spend time together, Suo Wei is won over by Chi Cheng’s genuine affections and his caring nature. As his feelings gets involved, he begins questioning his need to get revenge. Tian Xu Ning & Zi Yu became a worldwide sensation with this story, as their incomparable chemistry has refueled the Chinese BL industry!!
The Sparkle in Your Eye
This is one of those solemn romances that quietly steals the thunder. After suffering a scandal, former star Pei Jia (Chen Ye Sheng) decides to make a fresh start as an actor to remake his image. As such, his manager chooses a queer-themed project for him. Initially unwilling, he decides to join the project because he has no future prospects in sight. His co-star turns out to be Su Yi (Huang Xiao), a total rookie with no acting experience. Su Yi looks up to Pei Jia and is enamored with him, while Pei Jia initially considers him a nuisance. In order to get on the same wavelength, the two are forced to live together and share a bed. As they spend time together, Pei Jia is won over by Su Yi’s dedication to his work and persistent attitude. Their relationship starts to turn ambiguous against the pressure of the entertainment industry. Chen Ye Sheng & Huang Xiao have a sweet yet endearing chemistry!!
