Englot means perfection, but that doesn’t mean this story was flawless!!
The second project in the ambitious “4 Elements” project, “The Water” had a promising premise, engaging casting and more than that, a loyal fanbase who were consistent in hyping the show. This series is largely centered around the Wathinwanit cousins; they have business dealings in most sectors and surprisingly, all heirs in this generation are women and also conveniently lesbian. It might be because the storyline is adapted from a novel series. By the time we have adjusted to this misnomer, the storyline swiftly shifts to the second cousin, Apo Wathinwanit. You have already met her in “The Earth”. After Din Wathinwanit, she is the second cousin and probably the most serious and mature individual in the motley group of four. “The Water” portrays her impossible romance with the daughter of their rival company, the Watchara Group. This is their fourth project together, so Engfa and Charlotte have a steady presence. You can say they have matured in their own ways!
Storyline & Chemistry-

“Nam” Apo Wathinwanit (Engfa Waraha) is a sharp executive at Monarch Hotels under Watin Group. “Lada” Chonlada Kunanon (Charlotte Austin) is the third daughter of tycoon Pheemdech, born to his mistress. Brainwashed by her elder brother, Phat (Heng Asavarid), Lada infiltrates the Watin Group as an intern to act as a spy and steal information. Lada’s spontaneity and over infectious nature catches Lada’s attention. Initially, they are at loggerheads until Lada manipulates her way into Nam’s inner circle. But as they spend time together, Lada realizes that although Nam is hardworking and brilliant, she is extremely lonely. The excessive weight of expectations burdens her shoulders, and she has no one to lean on. Instead of trying to steal information, Lada soon grows fond of Nam, as they work on new projects. Somehow, they perfectly balance each other as Lada gives an emotional touch to Nam’s ideology.
I have been watching Englot for years and this seems like their best work yet. Obviously, the storytelling isn’t flawless. It has abundant loopholes, but you can’t fault Englot’s perception of their character roles. Engfa portrays Nam’s serious disposition with an untouchable honesty. She is cunning and calculative but also vulnerable in love. Charlotte depicts Lada’s bubbly nature effortlessly. The spontaneity is genuine as Lada wavers between betraying Nam or helping her protect her dreams. Their chemistry is topnotch as always!!
Final Impressions

I really liked the ending even though it was half-baked!!
I was really impressed by Nam’s father, Adisorn (Pete Thongchua). He has handed over the reins to Nam, but that doesn’t stop him from meddling in Nam’s personal affairs. He makes it his personal mission to make sure that his daughter doesn’t have the same regrets that he did. Also, after their marriage, Lada is made an executive at Monarch Group and granted an opportunity to showcase her talents, something that could have never materialized in her own household. I’m just pissed that we never know what happened to Phat. Did he get caught? Was he punished for his evil deeds?
