When this Singaporean BL dropped out of nowhere without much fanfare, I wasn’t exactly inspired to play catchup. But the actors looked good, and the story seemed inspiring. So, I hit the play button and was pleasantly surprised. The storyline focuses on a apocalyptic couple, both of them have a disastrous fate. One is dying from a terminal illness while the other seems cursed beyond measure. Their romance seems ill-fated from the onset and yet as they fall in love, they form a strong bond which no one could break. The main couple have significant chemistry, a beautiful storyline and even better camaraderie. Sadly, the secondary couple fall short in the chemistry department, but their good looks make up for that misnomer. There might be many who were unsatisfied with the rushed ending, so we will talk about everything in detail later!!
Storyline & Chemistry-

At 17, Zhan Wang (Jia Yi) returns from Beijing to his hometown, carrying a secret diagnosis of terminal brain cancer. There, he meets Xu Yuan (Tang Cheng Zhi), also 17, a top student who has been branded by the entire town as a child of misfortune. Their initial meeting sparks an intense rivalry between both, as Zhan Wang wants to regain control of his grandmother’s house that has been bequeathed to Xu Yuan. He joins the same school as Xu Yuan and forces him to act as his servant. As they spend time together, Zhan Wang’s heart softens as he watches people rebuke Xu Yuan constantly. Their relationship changes as he starts to defend Xu Yuan publicly and helps him. They slowly understand each other and fall in love. Sadly, Zhan Wang’s condition worsens and his father forces them to breakup. Against all odds, they reunite, and the show has an open ending. Jia Yi & Tang Chengzhi have an explosive chemistry. Although you do question Zhan Wang’s health condition; because for most parts, he seems quite healthy.
Final Impressions

The romance is built up in a convincing manner and it is pristine, but the finale fails to bank on that premise!!
The secondary couple, Zhan Xu (Yu Qi) & Bian Ye (Cui Yi Qian) have disappointing chemistry. Yu Qi’s discomfort is quite viable in their kissing or NC scenes. The other couple, Xu Nuo (Zhang Rui Yi) and Lin Xia (Ke Xin) are cute, but their story goes nowhere. The only impactful couple in this show are Zhan Wang & Xu Yuan, but the rushed ending is indeed disappointing.
