“Wu” is an enchanting tale of soulful love and lifetime commitment!!

After “High School Frenemy”, the expectations of this show were obviously mile high. Sky Wongravee & Nani Hirunkit have already registered their swoon-worthy chemistry and although there was mayhem surrounding Gagaoolala’s supposed release of this bromance, that didn’t stop the show from premiering or gaining high ratings. I went into the show with almost zero expectations, because dark fantasy isn’t an easy subject to handle. But SkyNani somehow makes it work. Without unwarranted NC or kissing scenes, they manage to capture your attention from the get-go and the storytelling is surreptitious. Despite being tagged as “Bromance”, the show doesn’t shy away from utilizing SkyNani’s chemistry. They are literally described as “Soulmates”. Ultimately “Wu” is a euphoric experience that commands love & mutual respect.

Storyline & Chemistry-

Pete (Nani Hirunkit), an unlucky young man carrying a fragment of a demon’s soul, has the ability to sense Yao—strange energies that devour life force and control the mind. He was born deaf and his parents decided to place the demon’s soul fragment inside his body, so he could gain hearing ability. Unfortunately, his parents pass away and Pete is left debt-ridden. Things get intriguing when he crosses paths with Niran (Sky Wongravee), a ousted member of the famed Wu clan, who has been tasked with the responsibility of destroying Yao. Niran strikes a deal with Pete whereby he uses the powers of the demon inside Pete to catch Yao, demons who are causing disturbances in the mortal realm. When the Prime Minister, Chaisak (Bird Wanchana) tries to arrest the mafia member, Bao Cheng (Wave Khoo), his henchman, Li Pou (Krist Perawat) releases the powerful Warrior Demon, who causes widespread death & destruction. Pete & Niran join hands with a formidable team that includes Jia Hao (Palang Rocksilp), Fei (Godji Tachakorn), Tong (Great Sapol) and Yok (Singha Luangsuntorn). As they fight the Warrior Demon, Niran is forced to bind his soul to Pete, to keep the Monkey Demon inside Pete under control. When Niran is attacked by the Warrior Demon and his soul is trapped in another realm, Pete uses their soul connection to bring Niran back. “Wu” can be described as a soulful romance between two lonely individuals who find peace in each other’s company. SkyNani’s natural chemistry shines through the entire show and it is stronger than their previous show.

Final Impressions

SkyNani’s effervescent chemistry makes you wish that they would star in a BL soon!!

I’m not sure what the hiccup is, because “Wu” doesn’t shy away from portraying them as soulmates. They protect each other, trust & support each other’s decisions and are in love. It is obvious from their gaze, that Pete & Niran have strong feelings for each other. They make a formidable team, as they find Yao and Pete finds a renewed path to existence.
