Latest Japanese Releases Added to Your Watchlist!!

Japanese BLs are becoming extremely popular, catering to regional & international audiences. We have a healthy uptake of new releases almost every week and fresh premieres aren’t reclining anymore. So, we are here with our update on the latest releases that were added to the roster recently!!

Your Sky: Hare Nochi Koi

Japanese remakes of Thai BL shows are trending these days. Adapted from the novel “Your Sky” (Your sky #กี่หมื่นฟ้า) by 25.15.66, the Thai version starred the fresh pairing of Thomas Teetut & Kong Kongpob. The show’s ratings skyrocketed because of their unique chemistry. So, it is obvious that they have similar expectations from the remake. The Japanese version stars Aihara Isshin & Fukuda Ayuta as main leads. Hinata, a kind-hearted, innocent, and positive guy. One day, he has an unexpected encounter with his best friend’s elder brother, Sora, a tsundere senior who’s a campus celebrity and feared as the “Tyrant Prince.” To escape from his senior Oji, who keeps pursuing him relentlessly, Hinata & Sora agree to fake their relationship. Isshin & Ayuta have a sweet camaraderie, which might develop into an intriguing chemistry later.

Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me

If you enjoyed watching “School Trip Joined A Group I’m No Close To”, then your next stop should be “Popular Serizawa Acts Weird around Me.” Adapted from the manga “Yokya Shudan ni Iru Serizawa wa, Ore no Mae da to Yosu ga Okashii” (陽キャ集団にいる芹沢は、俺の前だと様子がおかしい) by Tsubaki Yuzu (椿ゆず), the show stars Shisaka Ryoto & Koizumi Kosaku in lead roles. Suzuki is a loner student who has secretly written a BL novel using the name of Serizawa, a popular guy in a group of outgoing people, as his model. When Serizawa ends up reading it, Suzuki panics, convinced he’ll be mocked. Instead, Serizawa unexpectedly showers him with praise & reveals that he is a BL lover as well. Suzuki was mocked by his classmates in his previous school for writing BL novels. While panicking, Suzuki says that he would do anything as a way to apologize. Serizawa instantly latches onto this opportunity and says he wants to continue reading the BL novel written by Suzuki. Ryoto & Kosaku have an endearing chemistry. It’s obvious that Serizawa has had a crush on Suzuki for a long time, who is oblivious to his affections.

After Moving Seats, the Boy Behind Me Has a Crush on Me

Another alternative to ” “School Trip Joined A Group I’m No Close To”, this one is my current favorite. Adapted from the manga “After Changing Seats, It Seems the Guy Sitting Behind Me Likes Me” (席替えしたら、どうやら後ろの男が俺のこと好きらしい) by Mashiroito (ましろいと), the show stars Gennosuke & Konishi Eito in lead roles. Ordinary student Mayama Haru is stunned when he finds a handwritten confession on a worksheet passed to him. Even more shocking, the note is from Asamiya Kosei, the impossibly handsome and popular boy at the center of their class. Certain the confession wasn’t meant for him, Haru questions Kosei, only to receive an immediate and unwavering answer: it was written for him. As Kosei’s intense affection grows stronger by the day, Haru finds himself swept up by the relentless advances of a boy who has been hiding his feelings for far too long. The funniest thing is that Haru firmly believes Kosei likes him as a friend. Gennosuke & Konishi Eito have an unassuming chemistry, they look cute together & the budding romance is endearing!!

Hold on, Harutora-kun

The third alternative to “School Trip Joined A Group I’m No Close To” (because why stop at two?), “Hold on, Harutora-kun” stars Nakagawa Tsubasa & Sakuragi Masaya in lead roles. High school student Kishida Sui hides his expressions behind a face mask and often becomes an easy target for teasing in the boys’ dormitory, because he is gay. Though he laughs things off and gets through school life with a smile, deep down he’s become wary of forming close relationships. In the spring of his second year, he’s assigned to share a room with first-year student Kurobe Harutora. Harutora’s straightforward emotions and natural closeness gradually begin to break down the walls Sui has built around his heart. The first episode hinges on their progressive closeness. Harutora’s previous roommate left the dormitory on learning that he was gay. Initially, Harutora feels apprehensive, thinking that Sui might behave in a similar manner. Surprisingly, Sui accepts Harutora’s sexuality easily & even declares his feelings for him. Tsubasa & Masaya have a natural chemistry which shines through the entire episode.
