“My Little Ghost” Series Review (Ep.1 to 10)

This is such a gem that speaks softly and gently to you. I would have completely missed it except for a fortuitous lull in my day. Once I began to watch it, I could not believe what a transcendental sonnet it truly was. As it is almost always the case with Vietnamese BLs, this is another story that is filled with élan vital. ALL Vietnamese BLs have a moral to them – an end towards which they are working towards which is redemptive in nature. But here, its didactic teaching is so full of life, fun, joy, humanity, and finally attainment. Yet its road to gratification must traverse a path of unbearable sadness, internal pain, relive painful memories, and finally face personal loss. Does that sound oxymoronic? Perhaps but is not life itself full of paradoxes? While allegorical, it is so explicative of life.

“Awaiting Dawn” Series Review (Ep.1 to 12)

This is anthology, an omnibus of human experiences that happen to all of us at one time or another in our lives. Realities involve falling in love, losing it, or perhaps realizing we never really had it in the first place. Being ever so cautious of the next time, yet it is feeling so right. Experiences involve making mistakes in life but being able to move forward from those mistakes. It is a treatise of how we live up to family expectations yet be ourselves. Constant searching for the right answers to questions, on whether we give up love to pursue our dreams or stay behind with the one we love. With so many other daily decisions in between.

BL Week in Review

Of the thirty-four currently airing BL dramas, I am only watching thirteen. Even so, it feels like a lot to watch. Perhaps it’s because the buzz on social media keeps increasing. More and more people have something to say about these series, which is amazing but also time-consuming.

BL Week in Review

The big news on the street this week in Thai BL was the drop of the teaser for “Knot”, which is the new project from MFlow Entertainment. It is an omegaverse series that will star Boat and Oat, who recently did “My Stubborn”. Honestly, I think they are perfectly suited for the kind of tension needed for an omegaverse, and I’m excited to see what they do with it.

BL Mini-Bytes

We had a relatively quieter week, with fewer announcements. This doesn’t happen often, maybe it could be attributed to the fact that the weekends have an assortment of intriguing dramas, playing catchup is getting difficult!

BL Week in Review

Eight series ended this week, and we only have one new series beginning next week. I think we are finally getting some breathing room for a minute.

I enjoyed “The Proper Way to Write Love”, “Memoir of Rati”, and “The Promise of the Soul” enough to recommend them here. Each series had a unique premise and was easy to follow. I believe “The Proper Way to Write Love” had the best execution, but “Memoir of Rati” certainly follows close behind. Anyway, they would make a fun binge session for a weekend where you just need to relax.

BL Week in Review

School wore me out this week, and consequently, I find myself here on Saturday evening, playing catch up. I looked at my social media and realized I hadn’t posted any reviews most of the week, which is unusual for me. Still, I’m glad I’m able to write this article each week and reflect upon all that happened, since there’s always quite a bit going on.

BL Week in Review

There are twenty-five series currently airing that are accessible to international viewers, plus a variety of reel series, and I have chosen to watch thirteen of them. I guess that’s what happens when the BL flood begins.

“My Sweet Brother-in-law” Series Review (Ep.1 to 5)

There is so much to unpack in this short series. It is a prodigious tale as well. Initially, the way it was presented felt as if it might be a light, even comedic tongue-in-cheek story. Full of fun. But true to the nature of Vietnamese BLs, it emerges into realness. The human drama becomes honest, sincere, and relatable especially because of what happens when we simply are unable to truly be ourselves. It is a story of gayness and the inability to be free and open about who you are and the person you love. The Vietnamese have mastered the perfection of being able to portray these emotions with such intensity.
