Love in Translation is a romantic love story between two main characters whose life choices and goals are totally different. It can be said that it is a love story with a pinch of inspiring moments; I added pinch because only two episodes have been released yet and from what I gathered; it seems that the story will have a connection on a deeper level on different aspects than just being a simple love story. Our first main character Yang (Daou Pittaya) wants to run a successful buisness and is in search of a thai buisness partner to broaden his business while on the other hand our second main character Phamjai (Offroad Kantapon) is the hardcore fan of a chinese influencer Tammy (Jam Charuttha) and wants to pursue her. One thing leads to another and we know that in life things never occur in a simple way. So, sparks starts flying between our main leads as they get to know each other and start spending time together.
In the first episode, we see Yang and his parents and how he is passionate about setting up a business. We also see him trying hard to make it own his own, being alone and knowing almost no one, running from one office to other and working hard for his dreams. On the other hand we see Phamjai being obsessed with Tammy, watching her lives and mostly dreaming about her instead of looking for work. The first episode focuses on how the characters have totally different priority in their life; how they are opposite in every sense. Their first meeting happens in an elevator and it’s very awkward (not in a bad sense, but unlike how a first meeting usually is). At first they get along well with each other but soon a misunderstanding cause a little rift (giving them an “Enemies to Lover’s” kinda vibe). Instead of misunderstanding, its more like Yang comments something on Tammy’s live using Phamjai account and Phamjai gets blocked; because of this they turn into enemies. To impress Tammy, who prefers dating a businessman, Phamjai decides to take SME course, to start his own business.

Yang struggles with renting a place for his dreams to successfully setting up his business. When on the verge of losing his dream place, he suddenly gets a call that someone is interested in being his partner and he gets excited. And that partner is no one else than Phamjai himself. Their second encounter is really funny and they end up arguing again. But finally they agree to be partners as both have things they want to accomplish.
Daou embodies the struggles in Yang’s life, with his acting. He does a good job of playing a character who is calm and very clear about what he wants. After watching the first two episodes, my hypothesis is that the storyline will be like this: Yang will teach Phamjai the importance of career and sincerity towards your goal in life whilst Phamjai will teach Yang how it’s also important to enjoy your life and to appreciate small things. Daou and Offroad are pretty decent and the storyline doesn’t break randomly, which is a good thing; because even while watching a high budget drama no matter how good the production is, if the storyline has random breakouts, it is a huge turnoff because then the viewer cannot relate to the flow.
Overall, I think it is worth watching this show and hope future episodes will be relevant to the storyline which continues in a good way.
