Did FreenBecky come together in another great series??

Obviously not, because “The Air” seems to be the weakest link in this series adaptation. Adapted from the novel “The Air” (The Air เสน่หาวาโย) by Salmon (แซลม่อน), the third installment fails to capitalize on the chemistry of their globally popular couple. On the top of that, the storyline gets capsized by unexplainable potholes. The show suffers from lazy writing and absolutely no character development. It was really disappointing given the fact that Lom is certainly one of the most loved characters in this universe. After watching her help her elder sisters in the previous two installments, I appreciated her girth and courage. Her flirtatious nature is charming and so, I was looking forward to watching her fall in love with Princess Blew. Unfortunately, a major portion of this show is focused on plotting & scheming. After a while, it gets frustrating to watch.

The Storyline & Chemistry-

Princess Catherine Blue Le Dena/ Blew (Becky Armstrong) is the heir presumptive to the throne of Madeline. When she visits Thailand for a diplomatic trip, Lieutenant Wayo Wathinwanit (Freen Sarocha) is assigned as the head of her security detail. Unbeknownst to Blew, her secretary Grace and main bodyguard Henry have been plotting to assassinate her. They have even arranged a lookalike who takes Blew’s place. Wayo steps in and saves her life from the assassins send by Henry. From there, it is a cat and mouse game as Wayo travels to each of her cousin’s home, to safeguard Blew. The biggest challenge being that the assassins quickly figure out their next location and Wayo repeatedly keeps getting injured. While hiding from the enemy, the two face danger and situations of defiance, leading them to an intimacy and forbidden feelings that may not be stopped. Wayo works with her father to execute the traitors and is grievously injured. Blew’s father takes her home, and she has no choice left, but to ascend the throne. In the end, Blew chooses to give up on her royal title and gets married to Wayo.

Final Impressions

I was slightly disappointed by Blew’s choices!!

This show could have set the precedent of having the first openly queer Queen in the history of female regnants. Of course, Madeline is just a fictional country, so it doesn’t matter. But Blew could have ascended the throne and amended the laws, so she could be openly with Wayo. That would have made more sense than giving up on her title and responsibilities. This show was such a letdown, because I was expecting great things from it!!
