Some shows leave you exasperated with their very existence. This was one such show!!

“Frozen Valentine” feels like time freezes most of the time, especially in scenes where romance is intended. As posted in my initial review, the show had an innovative concept. Two actresses meet while filming a GL series. The only glitch is that the older actress doesn’t recognize her younger pairing, from their teenage days. The show plays around with this valid misunderstanding, drags it out until you feel compelled to get between them and shake them up. The anxiety and distress felt by the actresses gets so stretched beyond clearance that you wonder how two people can be so immature. The storytelling could have been better, but it fails miserably, leaving the main leads with an enormously messy script to perform!!

The Storyline & Chemistry-

As a teenager, Pingrak (Yeepun Purichaya) had a huge crush on Charm (Natty Natthamon), the hottest girl in school. Charm was dating her classmate, Mint (Nycha Nichapat) and as such, snubbed advances from other people, Pingrak included. Later, Charm & Mint break up when Charm discovers that Mint was cheating on her. Years later, they reunite when Charm is chosen to lead a GL series. Pingrak auditions for the same show, and she is selected to play Charm’s love interest. Charm obviously doesn’t recognize her and even after years of separation, Pingrak still has feelings for Charm. As they spend time together, Charm falls for Pingrak’s sweet and kind nature. But their love story is fraught with misunderstandings and Pingrak’s mother strongly opposes their relationship.

The biggest mistake committed by the casting directors was hiring Nycha Nichapat, to play the supporting role, Mint. Nycha’s chemistry with Natty strongly eclipses her romance with Yeepun. Sadly, the new pairing fails to make a mark and they are unimpressive.

Final Impressions

The show proves that all relationships go through various ups and downs!!

Only Charm & Pingrak’s relationship goes through so many mishaps, that you get tired watching this show. Most of the time, it is their immature behavior, where the issue could have been solved by a simple conversation. I’m not sure if the transition of the story in the novel to live-action was without any mistakes. But the script gets you so exhausted, you wish the show would end soon!!
