Upcoming Asian BL Dramas- Part III

With Korean BLs on the rise, March saw an unprecedented increase in the number of BL dramas. “Our Dating Sim”, “A Shoulder to Cry On” and “Unintentional Love Story” are dominating the current scenario with their niche storytelling and phenomenal casting. On the other hand, Thai BLs have been on a slow wind; the recent disappointment being the highly anticipated drama “Make a Wish”. The show’s international premiere is still uncertain and, as such, it has left avid fans teetering on the edge. That being said, April will see the advent of some exciting shows, so let’s check out the roster!

“Love Syndrome 3” First Impressions (Ep.1 & 2)

“When you love something there is passion and hardship” seems to be the theme for 2023’s adaptation of the third novel in the “Love Syndrome” series. “Love Syndrome 3” tells the complicated story of Itt (Frank Thanatsaran) and Day (Lee Long Shi). Their relationship is one of dominance and submission before a tragic accident that almost costs Day his life. I don’t mean the BDSM version of dominance/submission. But one where Day controls Itt’s actions through reward and punishment. The reward being a whole piece of cake, the punishment being physical/emotional abuse. If any of this is triggering to you, stop now.

Luke Ishikawa Plowden: No Road Untravelled

The 5 of February was a busy night in Hollywood. Born and raised in the United States, Luke Ishikawa Plowden is currently in Bangkok, Thailand, building an impressive acting resume and (fittingly enough) is at the very start of his music career. Sitting down in the offices of GMMTV, the Thai entertainment conglomerate Plowden is signed to, he’s an energetic and effervescent young man with bright eyes and an infectious smile.

“Hit Bite Love” Series Review (Ep.3 to 6)

The first season of “Hit Bite Love The Series” seemed like a surprisingly fresh BL series. With the lack of the now aged format of Engineering and Medical students in favor of using High School teenagers, the show seemed to have an innovative edge. It was an interesting experience, to say the least. I myself found myself enraptured with the characters.

BoatNut: A New History Waiting to be Rewritten

There is a lot of speculation surrounding the upcoming adaptation- Hot Bamee and Yummy Gyoyung, the latest kid on the block. A gourmet romance with spicy flavors, the show is touted as the next big deal after author Jamie’s previous adaptation “My Secret Love The Series” was met with positive response and applause. As such, the excitement surrounding the lead couple is understandable, and fans are dying to catch a glimpse of their chemistry.
